The Esprit in Eldon, Iowa, in front of the actual farm house
used in the Grant Wood painting, ''American Gothic''. For more

#2 . It had been raining as we got to the farm house, and the Esprit was dirty, so I
stopped at a car wash in town to clean up the car for the picture. Several
Eldon residents drove by the car wash and gave me a look like I was crazy for
washing my car in the rain.
WHAT?!
WHAT?! You check your engine your way, I'll check it my way,...... up close and
personal. This picture was taken when I had the Europa apart in 1982 to
rebuild the water pump.
I took this picture whilst touring Canada in 1991. It is one of my
favorite pictures. If you take a look at a map of Manitoba, and look at
the point where Lake Winnipeg and Cedar Lake join, you will see a town, Grand
Rapids. This view is from the north side of the bridge, looking
south. It is probably over 200 miles north of Winnipeg, Manitoba.
In 1995, I went to California for the Lotus Festival. Took about a 500
mile detour to get this picture of my Esprit in from of the real London Bridge
in Lake Havasu City, Arizona.
For several years, Doc Bundy campaigned in a Lotus Esprit X180R. This
photo is of a car from July 1991's Ruan Grand Prix held on the streets of
downtown Des Moines, Iowa. This was the race where Doc was leading up
until the last portion of the last lap. Unfortunately, something went
wrong, he lost power, and came across the finish line with the rear of the car
in flames, and no longer in first place. Sadly, I had used my last picture
moments before that.
Another picture from the Des Moines race. Check out the flames coming
out the exhaust!
Over Labor Day weekend in 2008, I drove my Esprit down to Kansas City for
their All Brit show. Locost lister Russ had set up a big Locost/Lotus 7
weekend. It was GREAT fun. Here you see Locost/Lotus Esprit Guru
Doctor Hess and I standing next to an Elise at Russ's home. I'm the one in
the green shirt.
